Sales Representative, Northeastern USA & Canada

Location: Preferably Michigan or Upstate New York

The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide products and services required to meet the customer’s needs, and to generate sales growth within the Northeastern North American and Canadian Market.
  • Manage customers and related industry associates within the territory - Organize customer visits on a regular basis. Understand the customer’s operational constraints and anticipate needs. Keep customer data and file updated.
  • Reporting – Provide relevant comments with sales figures, report on customer’s status, report on the products used by customers, relay information on the market and competitors.
  • Provide customers with product information.
  • Establish variety trials on growers’ farms to determine the adaptability of Hazera’s genetics versus the competitive varieties, as approved by contracting customer and/or broker.
  • Complete on-farm product trials (long row & block) to introduce new products.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding market trends and customer needs.
  • Maintain a high level of communication and teamwork with customers and Hazera associates.
  • Manage expenses within budget.
  • Writes up orders on designated order forms: variety, product for, unit price, shipping method, packaging, customer contact, etc.
  • Communication with Customer Service to manage orders and monitor deliveries.
  • Requires daily travel in a company-provided vehicle to visit customers in industry functions and field trials. May require 2 to 3 trips a year outside of territory to attend company and/or industry related meetings. Multiple overnight stays throughout the year in the territory, and one international trip per year maybe required.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a B.S. degree in Agriculture or related discipline.
  • 3 – 5 years experience in vegetable seed sales preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office© programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Skills required:

  • Vegetable production knowledge preferred.
  • Sales and customer management skills essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills needed.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of different cultural backgrounds.
