We are looking for a Agricultural Biologist to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Seymour, Illinois.

As an Agricultural Biologist at the Midwest Research Farm in Seymour, Illinois you will be responsible for the overseeing the daily farm maintenance operations as well as conducting various types of field research activities at the farm. You would also be responsible for coordinating the site safety and security protocols as directed.

As a Agricultural Biologist, you create chemistry by...

  • Conducting scheduled maintenance, repairs, and necessary modifications to on-site research equipment (e.g., tractors, sprayers, tillage implements).
  • Overseeing general site maintenance, including cleaning and organization of the shop and storage building, handling any small repairs needed for the facilities, and managing all groundskeeping.
  • Planning and executing spring and fall tillage, crop planting, bulk pesticide applications, crop harvest, and appropriate fertilizer program implementation.
  • Being responsible for the management of weed-free crop areas by identifying the need for appropriate applications, timing, and execution of such applications (e.g., weed-free trials, bulk crop areas).
  • Coordinating operation and maintenance of on-farm lateral irrigation systems.
  • Serving as the site Safety and Security Officer (i.e., ensuring MWRF operations are in compliance with BASF EHS and security programs).
  • Assisting the research team onsite with establishing and managing crop protection research trials to support product development across key indications of herbicides and fungicides, as well as trials associated with precision application systems and UAV applications.
  • Establishing and managing market development and demonstration trials supporting Technical/Agronomic Services teams.
  • Assisting with data collection and analysis on all trials conducted on the farm, as needed, including collaboration with project leaders on details and supporting the project with data collection, including imagery with drones and digital photography.
  • Supporting the farm manager and research staff with hosting customer and stakeholder events onsite.

If you...

  • Hold a four-year degree in agriculture or a related field, or have four years of experience in the agriculture field.
  • Have farm equipment operation experience, including the ability to independently operate tractors, planting, tillage, and harvest equipment.
  • Currently hold or are willing to obtain both an Illinois pesticide applicator license and an FAA Part 107 drone operator license.
  • Can work as part of a team to effectively achieve common goals.
  • Exhibit strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and are a team player.
  • Have experience running GPS/RTK guidance systems (preferred).
  • Have working knowledge of sound agronomic practices (preferred).
  • Hold an Illinois Class A Commercial Driver’s License (preferred).
