RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee plant-growing activities, including off-station research sites, assuring proper plant care required to generate commecial quality vegetable crops.
   1. Includes both greehouse and field plant care needs.
   2. Coordinate the activities of the R&D Plant Care Assistants as well as other contracted labor needed to achieve the plant growing objectives.
   3. Responsible for proper and safe operation of all farm machinery & equipment.
   4. Assure that all required equipment and supplies are available for plant production at these facilities on a timely basis.
   5. Pesticide application license required.
   6. Forklift certification preferred.
2. Assure proper maintenance of all Research Station facilities & equipment.
   1. Directing R&D Plant Care Assistants as necessary.
   2. Communicate with the Research Station Manager routinely regarding maintenance:
      1. Reporting any manor equipment needs,
      2. Reporting any major facility maintenance needs.
3. Communicate on a regular basis with all R&D managing staff regarding the on-going operations at the facilities
   1. Communicate with the Research Station manager regarding:
      1. All plant care assignments & timing,
      2. Plant breeder project requests.
   2. Attend routine Research Station meetings.

REQUIREMENTS

• Good management, communication and organizational skills,
• Ability to work on Saturday and Sunday,
• Good knowledge of plant growth, including application of chemicals,
• Pesticide application license and willingness to service the application,
• Valid California driver’s license,
• Professional working proficiency in Spanish.
