At KWS Momont Recherche, we are seeking on a full-time and permanent contract basis an experienced Hybrid Wheat Breeder (m/f) for our hybrid wheat breeding program located at our station in Allonnes near Chartres in France.

You will be responsible for entering hybrid wheat varieties into the European market in the near future. This involves continuous strengthening our hybrid pools, collaboration with seed production and commercial teams, and well as implementing results from ongoing research activities.

This is high-profile position in one of the world’s leading wheat breeding companies. Hybrid wheat is a key strategic target for KWS, and this position benefits from a high level of technical support from KWS HQ.

Your Task:

• Oversight of a regional hybrid wheat breeding programme with clear focus on variety development, with full budget and organization responsibility
• Manage and develop junior breeders and technical sta2
• Further developing male and female pools based on KWS’ existing line breeding programmes in Europe
• Work collaboratively with KWS’ wheat breeding and research teams to ensure full use of existing resources and knowledge
• Interact with seed production teams to develop cost-e2ective procedures
• Interact with commercial team for product identification, test and market introduction

Your Profile:

• MSc or PhD in plant breeding or related field with a strong focus on hybrid breeding methodology
• Several years of experience in hybrid breeding of an agricultural crop; knowledge of cereals is a plus
• Sound knowledge of quantitative genetics, field testing and statistics
• Experience in use of genomic tools in breeding
• Experience in leading breeding teams
• Willingness to travel frequently to field sites primarily in France during the summer season
• Entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm for innovation and willingness to collaborate across cultures and disciplines
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French a plus
