USA R&D Operations Manager
Location: Central Valley of California, USA
Fulltime position.
The objective of this position is to manage the R&D Operation team in USA and to participate in evaluation of the R&D projects. The R&D Operations Manager will have the responsibility to execute the Onion operations in our main site in Tipton (CA), and to assure implementation of a multi-crop R&D field trial program across the USA in the most efficient, professional and safety manners. For this position, Hazera Seeds is seeking an enthusiastic, results oriented, and highly communicative individual. You will be a member of the Global R&D Operations Team and will report to the Global Trialing Leader. You will have close interaction with colleagues across Hazera’s R&D organization and in Product Development, Sales and Seed Production.
You will be based in the Central Valley of California.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Set the plan for R&D station development according to breeding projects requirements, and execute this plan on-time and within budget
- Liaise with breeding teams on field trial needs and develop a field trial operational plan and budget
- Actively manage all components of the R&D field trials plan
- Deliver field trial success and quality data, and monitor and report on progress to stakeholders
- Support breeding in evaluation of trials, selections, seed multiplication and seed processing
- Coordinate with local authorities to secure phytosanitary certification, and seed shipment permits
- Set agreements with nurseries and growers
- Coordinate with seed dealers and laboratories
- Ensure data reliability, provide reports periodically
- Verify safe operations and in high quality
- Contribute to further development of Hazera’s global R&D trials network through engagement and collaborative interaction with colleagues in different regions
Profile:
- MSc in agronomy, crop science or related field or BSc with relevant working experience
- >5yrs Project management experience or direct people (>10 employees) management or multi-regional management (>5yrs)
- Background in field or vegetable crop research
- Knowledge of plant breeding and agricultural research methods
- Proven experience in field trialing, including trial setup and field evaluations
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and strong problem-solving capabilities
- Expertise in MS Office and data analysis applications
- Expertise with handheld field data collection devices and associated software
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically frequently (30%) and to work under variable environmental conditions associated with field trial work
- Proficient in English
- Driver license
- Eligibility working in the US
