Position: Breeder Assistant
Reporting to: Breeder
Job Summary:
Responsible for helping crop Breeder/s in developing new marketable hybrids for our global markets including North, Central and South America, Middle East and Europe. Assistant Breeder will be reporting to the crop Breeders and interacting with the breeding teams at Woodland.
Responsibilities:
- Help in all components of successful breeding program, which includes help in management of germplasm, development of elite inbred lines, hybrids, and production of breeder seed of elite lines.
- Keep abreast with the crop, traits, and the latest plant breeding tools.
- Knowledge of data recording and analysis.
- Support breeding program and implement the breeding strategy in different crops.
- Establish good rapport with product development and market teams.
- Supervise, train and manage seasonal field helpers.
- Travel domestic and internationally.
Qualifications:
- BS with Plant breeding or genetics.
- Experience in vegetable breeding.
- Knowledge of crop traits and breeding procedures.
- Working knowledge of marker technology, phytopathology, plant physiology, crop management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Works well within a team environment.
- Ability to work in range of working conditions.
- Command of MS office and statistical softwares (R, JMP, SAS and SPSS).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.
