About the role...
This is a great opportunity for an exceptionally talented Product Manager to join our growing Commercial Development team. The primary function of this position is to lead and execute on the tactical functions of product management at Inari, including product characterization, inventory management, demand and supply planning, and seed movement (both domestic and international) with 3rd party collaborators. The position can either be remote, or based at our new facility at the Purdue Research Foundation campus in West Lafayette, IN.
As Product Manager, you will...
- Lead and manage product characterization of pre-commercial and early stage commercial products, in part through consultants and advisors. Develop processes to analyze the data, determine product characteristics, and develop product informational material.
- Evaluate/observe products in the field throughout the growing season to increase product expertise.
- Support pre-commercial trial design and manage commercial demonstration trials to determine commercial value and product positioning.
- Manage day to day tactical interactions with 3rd party collaborators
- Facilitate movement of seed from 3rd parties collaborators to Inari and vice versa; track seed movements inbound and outbound. Coordinate with Seed Resources and Product Development to onboard the incoming seed and ensure planned activities are executed (i.e. seed increase, co-hybrid makeup, transformation testing, etc).
- Work with Commercial and Supply Chain to build a comprehensive and detailed product supply & production plan vs. demand forecast, by hybrid/variety/parent, by channel.
- Manage parent seed production supply planning in coordination with Product Development/Breeding and Supply Chain.
- Work with Supply Chain and Seed Resources to develop quality standards, ensure product quality standards are met, and steps are in place to properly manage carryover inventory and disposition, including repackaging, retagging, etc.
- Own the decisions regarding useability of product, based on quality results.
- Work with Operations, Commercial, and others to create and implement customer-friendly ordering, fulfillment, and shipping processes, all based on accurate product availability information. Work with Commercial to manage and implement allocations when necessary, to balance orders to actual availability.
- Support the Director of Product Management as needed and support the overall efforts of commercial development as the organization grows and evolves.
You bring…
- B.S. degree in Agronomy or Ag Business with 5+ years of industry experience in sales, agronomy, marketing, and/or product management.
- A base understanding of all aspects of the seed business
- An understanding of product performance evaluation, agronomic practices, and growing environment differences
- An ability to discern product differences in the field
- Basic understanding of product lifecycle management
- Aptitude for working with and learning technical information, attention to detail, and data analysis
- Process development, implementation, and management
- Working knowledge of standard office software tools (email, word processor, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and databases). Experience with Google Suite is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- An ability to work with colleagues and third parties across multiple site locations
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Integrity and trustworthiness
Highly Desired...
- Previous experience with seed industry product management
- Previous experience in the seed licensing industry
- Strong understanding of corn and soybean product development and supply chain
