About the role...
This is a great opportunity for an exceptionally talented Commercial Technical Development Director to join our growing Commercial Development team. The primary function of this position is to use collaborations to build and manage a portfolio of competitive products, support the commercial team with the product information needed to successfully sell and position our products, and support the Director of Product Management on all activities surrounding demand and supply planning. The position will be based at our new facility at the Purdue Research Foundation campus in West Lafayette, IN.
As Commercial Technical Development Director, you will…
- Assist in collaborations to gain germplasm access from independent genetic developers to supplement INARI internal efforts
- Be responsible for market preparation for edited materials pre-commercial placement for production with collaborators
- Facilitate computational breeding support for 3rd party collaborators to guide genetic development
- Support enablement of Inari integrated breeding strategy
- Contribute to the trait introgression strategy, in particular as it relates to which collaborator lines to introgress and when to do that
- Support the overall efforts of commercial development as the organization grows and evolves.
You bring…
- B.S. or M.S degree in Agronomy or Ag Business with 10+ years of industry experience in breeding, trait introgression, product evaluation, and/or technical product management
- An in-depth understanding of all aspects of the seed business, with expertise in germplasm, product testing and evaluation, and commercialization
- A willingness to travel extensively domestically and globally for collaboration interactions
- Basic understanding of product lifecycle management
- An understanding of product performance evaluation and characterization, agronomic practices, and growing environment differences
- An ability to discern product differences in the field
- Demonstrated track record of business acumen, and strategic and tactical decision making capability
- Ability to tackle complex problems, and drive quality results
- Aptitude for working with and learning technical information, and an attention to detail
- Process development, implementation, and management
- Working knowledge of standard office software tools (email, word processor, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and databases). Experience with Google Suite is a plus, but not required
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to sort through ambiguity, create clarity, influence others, and drive results
- An ability to work with colleagues and outside parties across multiple site locations and from a wide array of departments and perspectives
- Integrity and trustworthiness
Highly Desired...
- Previous experience in the seed licensing industry
- Strong understanding of corn and soybean product development required and knowledge of other crops a plus
- Understanding of supply chain quality requirements and processes
- Previous people management experience
