Laboratory Technician

Location: Coalinga, California, USA


 

POSITION SUMMARY

GreenVenus, LLC is focused on accelerating innovation in agriculture with proprietary products and platforms enabling sustainable food production for a growing population. With next generation plant propagation, speed breeding, and technologies for hybridization of crops, GreenVenus seeks to improve the quality of food for consumers while preserving valuable natural resources.

We are seeking a highly motivated, Laboratory Technician with strong Lab and organizational skills to join our Botticelli™ plantlet production team at Coalinga, CA.  The candidate will work under the supervision of the Plantlet Production Supervisor and is responsible for the precise execution of defined high through-put plantlet production protocols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow laboratory procedures in strict compliance with approved protocols.
  • Meet throughput production metrics for the quantity and quality of the plantlets.
  • Preparation of a variety of high-quality plant tissue culture and microbiological media under time constraints.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe lab space.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.     

Reports to:             Plantlet Production Manager

Supervisory:          None

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or higher preferred.
  • Experience with sterile/aseptic techniques or in plant tissue culture or in laboratory settings preferred.
  • Experience in Horticulture, Microbiology, quality control, Plant Biology, Cell Biology or related field with 1-3 yrs. Experience is ideal

DESIRED KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands with manual dexterity
  • Highly independent, proactive and self-motivated
  • Strong attention to detail and record keeping skills with ability to work under strict timelines
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week on a regular schedule (8 hours/day)
  • Ability to work overtime as required (including weekends and holidays)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Laboratory

  • Frequent: Speaking; hearing; sitting; use of hands/fingers; handling or feeling objects, tools or controls; close vision; color vision; peripheral vision; ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional: Standing; walking indoors; reaching with hands and arms; stooping; kneeling; crouching; lifting and/ or move up to 40lbs.
  • General: Moderate noise level, similar to typical office environment with computers, printers and light traffic.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
  • Requires fingerprint submission.

Work Authorization: U.S. Work Authorization

Start Date:  ASAP

Position:  Full time

Compensation:  Salary based on experience with a competitive benefits package.
