Position Function & Scope: 

Hot Pepper has been a very important crop for Namdhari Seeds Pvt Ltd., and the development of new superior Hot Pepper hybrids has been a key element for our success. The role of the senior Hot Pepper  breeder will be to speed up the success in delivering the  superior hybrids through conventional breeding techniques, double haploids, molecular breeding and utilization of other  the new technologies. The senior Hot Pepper breeder will work closely with the breeding team, product manager, satellite locations and other related team members in order to achieve the horticultural, disease resistance and quality requirements of the target Hot Pepper markets of India and South East Asia.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

• Independently develop and implement the breeding strategies for Hot Pepper programs.
• Able to develop the Hot Pepper inbred lines for hybrid development, testing of hybrids for the key markets with improved horticultural traits, disease resistance and quality requirements as per the target market needs. 
• Work with Research team, product manager and field supervisors in the evaluation of hybrids in research plots and large scale testing. 
• Able to utilise software programs, statistical analysis, summarising and reporting the breeding results. 
• Interact with Universities, IIHR and AVRDC institutes to support the Hot Pepper research program. 
• Strong project management ability and interpersonal skills.
• DUS characterization of germplasm of Hot Pepper inbred lines and hybrids.
• Should be a team player and supervise technical support team to enhance the team development.

Candidate Information & Qualification: 

• Ph. D in plant breeding with the specialization in Hot Pepper Breeding with 10 years of experience.
• M Sc. (Agri.) in Genetics and Plant Breeding with minimum of 15 years of experience in Hot Pepper Breeding.
• Proven track record of commercial Hot peppers hybrids released for key markets.
• Having the knowledge of Hot Pepper germplasm and its heterotic pools.
• Should have the knowledge on molecular tools and technologies.
• Able to understand and exploit the male sterility system in Hot Pepper.
• Strategic planning & analysis.
• Good communication & inter personal skills.
• Adaptability & dependability.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with multidisciplinary teams. 
• Proficiency in English and local language is an added advantage. 
• Willingness to travel.
