Position Function & Scope: 

Maize has been a very important crop for Namdhari Seeds Pvt Ltd., and the development of new superior Maize hybrids has been a key element for our success. The role of the senior Maize Breeder will be to speed up the success through conventional breeding techniques, Double Haploids, Molecular breeding and utilization of other  the new technologies and fields. The senior Maize breeder will work closely with the breeding team, product manager and other related team members in order to achieve the agronomic and quality requirements of the target Maize markets in India.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

• Independently develop the strategies for Maize breeding programs.
• Able to execute Maize inbred line development and hybrid development, testing programs to provide Maize hybrids for the key markets with improved agronomic traits and quality requirements as per the market needs. 
• Work with Research Agronomists, product manager and field supervisors in the evaluation of hybrids in research plots and large scale testing. 
• Able to utilise software programs, statistical analysis, summarising and reporting the breeding results. 
• Interact with University and CGIAR institutes to support the Maize research program. 
• Strong project management ability and interpersonal skills.
• DUS characterization of germplasm of Maize inbred lines and hybrids.
• Should be a team player and supervise technical support team to enhance the team development.

Candidate Information & Qualification: 

• Ph. D in plant breeding with the specialization in cross pollinated crops.
• Min. 10 years of experience in Maize breeding.
• Having the knowledge of Maize germplasm.
• Should have the knowledge on molecular tools and technologies.
• Strategic planning & analysis.
• Good communication & inter personal skills.
• Adaptability & dependability.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with multidisciplinary teams. 
• Proficiency in English and local language added advantage. 
• Willingness to travel.
