Position Function & Scope: 

Sweet Corn has been a very important crop for Namdhari Seeds Pvt. Ltd., and the development of new superior sweet hybrids has been a key element for our success. The role of the sweet Corn Breeder will be to speed up the success through conventional breeding techniques, Double Haploids, and utilising the new technologies. The Breeder will work closely with the breeding team, product manager and other related team members in order to achieve the agronomic and quality requirements of the target sweetcorn markets.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

• Independently develop the strategies for sweetcorn program.
• Able to execute sweet corn inbred line development and hybrid development, testing programs to provide sweet corn hybrids for the market with improved agronomic traits and quality requirements as per the market needs of India and Thailand. 
• Work with Research Agronomists, product Manager and field supervisors in the evaluation of hybrids in research plots and large scale testing. 
• Able to utilise software programs, statistical analysis, summarising and reporting the breeding results. 
• Interact with University and CGIAR institutes to support the sweet corn research program. 
• Strong project management ability and interpersonal skills.
• DUS characterization of germplasm of sweet corn.
• Should be a team player and supervise technical support team to enhance the team development.

Candidate Information & Qualification: 

• Master’s degree in Agriculture with specialization in plant breeding. Ph. D will be an added advantage.
• 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in sweet corn or corn breeding.
• Strategic planning & analysis.
• Good communication & inter personal skills.
• Adaptability & dependability.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with multidisciplinary teams. 
• Proficiency in English and local language added advantage. 
• Willingness to travel.
