Position Function & Scope: 

Rice is very important crop for Namdhari Seeds Pvt Ltd., we are expanding our breeding programmes to other geographies. Development of new superior hybrids and varieties have been a key element for our success and will be added to our row crop portfolio. The role of the senior Rice Breeder will be able to speed up the success through conventional breeding techniques, molecular techniques, double haploids and utilising the new technologies and tools. The senior Breeder will work closely with the breeding team, product manager and other related team members in order to achieve the agronomic and quality requirements of the target hybrid and varietal markets. Also work closely with other Rice breeding team to enhance the breeding programme.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

• Independently develop the strategies for paddy program. Able to execute Paddy inbred line development and hybrid development, testing programs to provide paddy hybrids/ varieties for the market with improved agronomic traits and quality requirements as per the market needs. 
• Work closely with other breeders, research agronomists, product manager and field supervisors in the evaluation of hybrids/varieties in research plots and large scale testing. 
• Able to utilise software programs, statistical analysis, summarising and reporting the breeding results. 
• Interact with University and IRRI/DRR institutes to support the research program. 
• Strong project management ability and interpersonal skills.
• DUS characterization of germplasm of Paddy.
• Should be a team player and supervise technical support team to enhance the team development.

Candidate Information & Qualification: 

• Master’s degree in Agriculture with specialization in plant breeding. Ph. D will be an added advantage.
• >10 years of relevant experience in Rice breeding.
• Strategic planning & analysis.
• Good communication & inter personal skills.
• Adaptability & dependability.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with multidisciplinary teams. 
• Proficiency in English and local language added advantage. 
• Willingness to travel.
