Trial Manager, Head of Corn Phenotyping
Location: Szeged, Hungary Job description:
Europe’s leader in seed production and the 4th largest seed producer in the world, Group Limagrain, a cooperative company, has an immediate opening position for head of corn phenotyping. This head of corn phenotyping (head of trial managers) works as part of the Central-European corn breeding team within the Limagrain Europe organization. The primary purpose of this job is to develop new hybrids that contribute to the commercial success of the company.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage the Central-European corn evaluation program;
- Compile and analyze experimental data and make recommendations for advancement to higher levels of testing including commercialization;
- Supervise testing station employees including full-time, temporary and seasonal workers;
- Collaborate with other research stations within Limagrain to exchange ideas, plots, germplasm, data and other items to maximize performance of the team;
- Prepare technical reports and give group presentations;
- Maintain an updated vision on the product development group’s demands;
- Manage both operating and capital budgets for the testing programs.
Required qualifications:
- A PhD degree in agriculture/biology/horticulture or a Master’s degree with 5 years experience in a private or public plant breeding program;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
- Self-motivation with strong organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and on a team;
- Supervisory and leadership skills;
- Ability to handle details with a great accuracy;
- Well-developed computer skills and able to utilize farm electronics;
- Willingness to work outdoors and the ability to work flexible hours and to travel abroad;
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in corn breeding program;
- Understanding of agronomy, statistics, experimental design, field equipments;
- French knowledge.
