Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to assist with facility, nursery and yield trial projects on behalf of multiple breeders and projects, ensuring completion of projects in a timely, accurate and cost effective manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Site

• Assist as needed with building, grounds and land maintenance
• Assist with on-station and off-station farming operations

Personnel Management

• Assist in managing seasonal staff

Assist in station activities to assure standards and timelines are met for packaging, planting, agronomics and harvesting of:

• Nurseries including continuous and off-season
• Inbred multiplication and hybrid makeup
• High quality yield trials, including site selection and data analysis

Support a station culture that meets or exceeds standards in the following:

• A team environment
• Health and safety
• Stewardship

Assist as needed in Contra Season activities with on-site Breeders

• Assist in packaging and shipping
• Participate in trips to Contra Season locations as needed to support activities

Ability to travel to off-site locations and work extended hours during seasonal peaks

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE NEEDED:

• High School diploma and two years experience in field research
• Ability to effectively manage seasonal staff
• Competent with field and data collection software and hardware
• Good understanding of field cultural practices
• Ability to obtain a CDL
• Ability to obtain a pesticide license
• Experience operating farm equipment
• Ability to work outside in varying environments
