Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Product Management Technician to lead nursery, seed needs, yield trials and other projects on behalf of the Product Manager, ensuring completion of projects in a timely, accurate and cost effective manner. Assist with international exports for testing and commercial development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Seed Management Internally and Externally
  • Assure standards and timelines are met for packaging, planting and harvesting of nurseries including continuous and off-season
  • Multiplication and purification of inbred lines
  • High quality nurseries, including site selection
  • Manage inventories
  • Assure adequate quantities of seed for increase of inbred lines
• Support and participate in operating budgets
  • Identify and support capital needs
• Personnel Management
  • Recruit and manage seasonal staff
• Testing Operations
  • Head Start Program
  • Cooperative and Contract Testing
  • Demonstration Plots
• Support and model a culture that meets or exceeds standards in the following:
  • A team environment
  • Health and safety
  • Stewardship
• Coordinate Contra Season activities for Product Manager
  • Manage logistics of packaging and shipping
  • Assign and schedule staff members trips as needed to support activities
• Ability to travel to off-site locations and work extended hours during seasonal peaks

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE NEEDED:

• MS degree and 5 years of experience in field research or equivalent
• Ability to manage field research
• Ability to effectively manage and motivate staff and teams
• Understanding of testing environments and impact on product evaluation
• General understanding of field, road and lab equipment
• General understanding of field cultural practices
• Ability to obtain a CDL
• Ability to obtain a pesticide license
