Sweet Corn Production Technician
Location: Meridian, Idaho, USA Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Sweet Corn Production Technician to assist the Sweet Corn Division’s seed production with primary responsibilities in Idaho, and complimentary responsibilities globally.
The Sweet Corn Production Technician’s responsibilities will include the following:
- Responsible for all aspects of seed production.
- Maintain a high standard for safety, compliance, seed quality, cost, and supply reliability.
- Develop and implement new technologies with appropriate allocation of resources.
- Monitoring production fields ensuring adherence to protocols are completed accurately and timely, this includes grower communication and documentation of activities.
- Cultivate partnerships with key business partners to plant and various field operations (e.g. grower network)
- Contract required production acres with seed growers to maximize yield, and deliver seed meeting quality specifications.
- Provide coaching and training to seasonal workforce, trainees and peers.
- Play an integral role in the Production and Supply Team through inbred evaluation, the organization and leading of customer visits, developing production data reports, and participation in product advancement decisions.
- Organize the maintenance and increase of inbred lines advanced within IFSI’s hybrid testing program.
- Responsible for providing project status updates, reviews and evaluation and full reports for all research activities to appropriate individuals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Agronomy, Crop Science, or related field, or commensurate experience.
- Evidence of ability to lead and manage field production.
- Experience working in agriculture understanding that overtime and weekends are required in peak seasons.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (bag of seed)
- Capable of working as a member of a team sharing responsibilities, ideas, inputs and coordinating for a meaningful and thorough outcome. Great temperament for working with growers, nurseries and various individuals outside of the company.
- Capable of differentiating information or materials that are confidential and sharing information appropriately within and outside the IFSI organization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and very good knowledge of computer applications.
- Ability to work independently along with good team leadership and management skills.
- Travel to off-site production locations and contra-season nurseries, company vehicle provided. A valid driver’s license and passport will also be required.
REPORTING:
The Sweet Corn Production Technician will report to the Global Production Manager of the Sweet Corn division in Meridian, ID.
