Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an energetic, passionate and experienced processing/manufacturing individual who can execute on all tactical day to day business requirements with urgency while strategically planning a long term vision to grow an efficient and talented organization. A Leader for our growing seed processing operations within VoloAgri. The position is accountable for managing plant processing activities which includes receiving, conditioning, warehousing, treating/enhancements, packaging and shipping. This position works hand in hand with Production Planning, Logistics, Customer Service (CS) and Sales to ensure timely delivery of our high quality products.

Accountabilities:

  • • Compliance Champion
    • Lead, train, coach and monitors all full time and temporary employees to ensure understanding and compliance with the following:
      • Human Resource Policies and Procedures
      • Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures
      • Process Control Quality Policies and Procedures
    • Responsible for department budgets and expenditures, ensuring all costs are within defined targets and develops cost efficient processes in order to optimize cost savings.
  • Organizational Leadership
    • Develop an organizational structure that has clear accountabilities of job roles and functions with clear hand-offs from one department to another.
    • Establish a robust cross training program for staff versatility.
    • Manages the personnel relations within the departments, including appraisals, training, development and career planning.
    • Instills a culture of SAFETY, QUALITY, and PRODUCTIVITY as the focal point for all plant employees.
      • Establishes well define documented procedures (SOPs) that are aligned with the company’s Quality Management Systems and Standards.
      • Leads Health and Safety training and projects to ensure compliance to the company’s Injury/Illness Prevention Program.
      • Develops and executes streamlined and effective seed processing activities using LEAN and 5s principles
  • Planning and Scheduling o Manage shop floor planning and scheduling in collaboration and coordination with Production Planning and Logistics
    • Establish activity and resource scheduling aligned with business priorities
    • Plan all resource requirements for staffing and materials
    • Coordinates with Operations management team on adjustments to schedules o Troubleshoots and drives solutions for any deviations related to capacity planning or execution.
  • Daily Operations o Responsible for ensuring operational readiness of facility, equipment, and vehicles
    • Through communication and monthly reporting, informs and advises the Director of Operation about departmental activities (work in process, projects, new developments etc.) in order to facilitate decision-making.
    • Ensures that the facility and work areas are maintained clean and organized.
  • Optimization and future growth o Analyzes manufacturing needs based on volume, timing, quality and cost.
    • Engages team to streamline workflow and efficiency for continuous productivity improvements
    • Analyzes and present benefit and cost justification to the management team Coordinates new equipment selection and processing infrastructures.
    • Executing CAPEX projects for facility physical process enhancements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience Manufacturing Management (minimum 5 years).
  • Strong engineering background in manufacturing designs and systems.
  • Experience managing employee performance and talent development
  • Preferred experience in an agricultural business (seed industry) or other related manufacturing operations.
  • The ideal candidate will have serviced international customers and worked in a rapid growing company.
  • Should possess the following competencies: leadership, management, organization, tactical and strategic and predictive thinking, proactive execution and decision maker.
  • Extensive knowledge and highly proficient in the use of ERP systems (i.e. SAP, Oracle, ABS etc.) and Microsoft Office products.
  • Known to have strong communication skills and abilities to cooperatively interface with all departments and employee levels.
  • Promotes a cooperative and flexible team atmosphere.

Education:

  • BS or MS Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Agriculture, Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing.
