The greatest strengths of this variety, which is 100 % male, are its tight tips, good quality and very high yields.
Tight tips, thick spears and good yields are important criteria for professional asparagus growers in South Europe.
Terralim is a good addition to the two main white asparagus varieties grown in South Europe - Vitalim and Grolim - especially as it enables the growers there to spread their harvest peaks.
Terralim starts producing about seven days earlier than Grolim and can be positioned between Vitalim and Grolim. Terralim’s tight tips make this variety ideal for the use of thermal mulch or mini-tunnels to advance harvests.
Terralim’s harvest time can be controlled on an annual basis, to either advance it or get it to coincide with that of Grolim using the same mulching system.
Terralim has a very high production potential, an excellent quality and a good spear thickness. The uniform product has tight tips, is fairly resistant to pink discolouration and yields a visually attractive product. Its good quality and spear thickness result in a high percentage of product of class 1.
