Cologne, Germany
BASF Digital Farming GmbH announces its global expansion into horticulture, launching xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Fruits & Veggies today. The new offering will initially support the cultivation of wine and table grapes from late 2025, targeting the markets of France, Italy, Spain, and Türkiye. From 2026 onwards, it will expand to include crops like tomatoes and potatoes, extending its reach to support growers in more countries. Accelerating digital innovation in horticulture This expansion forms part of BASF’s strategy to grow its digital offering in the horticultural sector. By integrating Horta’s Decision Support System (DSS) and proven plant growth, pest, disease, and irrigation management models - acquired in 2022 by BASF – xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Fruits & Veggies will provide growers with tailored, data-driven agronomic recommendations to enhance cultivation. Impactful data-based decisions to drive sustainability xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Fruits & Veggies marks a key milestone in BASF’s commitment to championing sustainable farming by providing growers with advanced digital tools that enable more efficient production. The platform delivers field-specific insights and agronomic advice to help improve yields, reduce environmental impacts, and lower input costs. All implemented recommendations are documented, follow local regulations, and can help growers meet environmental targets, including crop protection and CO2 emission reduction. Wine and table grape growers using xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Fruits & Veggies across the season will receive real-time updates on crop health, pest and disease pressure, and prevailing field conditions. With a convenient, user-friendly interface and intuitive design, the platform presents information in a clear and logical format, enabling more informed and beneficial crop management decisions. Global expansion into the horticultural market “We’re excited to introduce xarvio FIELD MANAGER to wine and table grape growers in Türkiye and key European markets,” said Konstantin Kretschun, Global Head of BASF Digital Farming. “This marks the start of our global expansion into the horticultural sector and supports our offering in other major crop systems.
