About the Vegetable Seed Sampling Coordinator
Coordinate all Vegetable seed sampling and seed inventory operations with a focus on delivery of on time seed sample submissions while maintaining an organized and accurate seed inventory. Timely completion of the sampling processes including data entry and delivery according to all relevant metrics , KPIs and specifications. Coordinate activities to optimize use of resources; drive continuous operational improvement. Communicate and work to resolve issues within broader operational team. Execute seed sample preparation, document results, follow-up with Lab and perform resampling as necessary. Responsible for receiving and checking in seed shipments, dispatching seed shipments, fulfilling internal seed order requests while maintaining accurate seed inventory. Leading and documenting periodic inventory audits and discarding of unneeded seed.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Experimental Samples - Vegetables
- Inventory Management: Organize & maintain vegetable product development seed sample inventory to expedite the packing and shipping of samples in an orderly and efficient manner
- Quality Assurance: germ & vigor seed updates; disease samples
- Logistics: phytosanitary and County of Origin documentation for international shipping
- Packing & shipping seed domestically & to Canada
- Receiving seed samples from breeders or sister companies: seed counts, weight, repack, log in, store, reporting on progress to appropriate managers
- Treating seed: Thiram film coat in house capability or schedule with external seed tech company
- Information sharing: communicating with key internal contacts and external contacts
- Maintain best practice seed inventory and seed lab conditions , in particular organization and ensuring seamless track and trace and minimizing errors or loss of identity;
- Coordinates documentation and notification with internal and external requestors regarding quality information;
- Maintains record keeping for regulatory documentation from federal, state, and local entities;
- Creates and maintains reports as needed; weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. to report to managers;
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Skills, Qualifications and Education
General
- BS or BA in Agricultural Science or Agricultural Management/Marketing or demonstrated ability to perform essential job functions.
- College degree with an AA or a Bachelor’s degree with minimum one-year equivalent experience a Seed Sampling Coordinator or demonstrated ability to perform essential job functions;
- Understand mathematics and basic accounting principles and proficient in Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Express confidence and professionalism with all cross functional teams, internally and externally;
- Strong organizational skills and able to work effectively under pressure and accurately complete tasks within given timelines;
- Able to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment in making decisions within the scope the job function;
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and take direction from more than one person;
- Able to work in a rapid paced environment, prioritize tasks, meet multiple deadlines, and ensure that work is accomplished in a timely fashion;
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize under pressure and meet timelines.
