R&D Operations Technician

Location: San Juan Bautista, California, USA

Enza Zaden in San Juan Bautista, California is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team.

What will you do?

As the R&D Operations Technician for Enza Zaden Research you will ensure optimal functioning of installations and facilities by.

  • Execution of preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings and installations.
  • Identification and correction of technical malfunctions. Recommends modifications to design and test procedures, equipment, and standards, and contributes to development of new methods.
  • Testing of small electrical equipment (in accordance with the local standards).
  • Management of various systems, such as heating/cooling, key system, burglar alarm and fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with agricultural working settings and facilities including greenhouses.
  • Accompanying technical support provided by external parties.
  • Administrative processing of activities.
  • Contribute to a healthy and safe working environment.
  • You will support the R&D team needs at the station and other duties as assigned.

Your power

You are a self-motivated person who takes initiative, recognizes opportunities, and has a systematic method of working.   You are research minded and interested in working in the agriculture sector.  You promote and follow safety procedures. You have a strong agriculture background and has developed strong management skills. You can work independently, but you are also able to work in cross-functional teams.

  • Technician educational background. 
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Work on Saturdays and holidays as necessary.
  • A thorough understanding of English, both verbal and written is required.  
  • The ability to speak and understand some Spanish is highly desired.    
  • Operate and calibrate farm equipment, tractors, setup cultivators, irrigation systems and sprayers.
  • Experience in greenhouse maintenance is highly desired. 
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Driving required to local fields (25%).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
