Missions

The R&D Global Resource Team (GRT) Director is responsible for leading a regionally dispersed global team dedicated to driving improvements in the R&D organization in three distinct areas: process improvement, R&D Operations technology introductions and organizational development.

In addition to driving improvements across the HMC R&D organization, the project approach and modeling is meant to promote and contribute to a work culture of operating excellence and high performance teams.

The specific topics and areas addressed are determined by the R&D Global Operations Council and are managed inside of a project framework. Some projects require specific technical expertise that must be identified and integrated into the project in the form of subject matter experts.

The intent with all projects is to institutionalize changes using standard change management practices and insure a transfer of ownership of the improvements back to the identified stakeholders in the organization.

In addition to directly leading some projects and coordinating projects led by other GRT team members, the GRT Director will promote and facilitate broad communication and information exchange to leverage talent and minimize unnecessary redundancy within our operations.

Maintain primary project focus on R&D Operations in three distinct areas:

Process improvement

  • Develop best practices and establish performance metrics for key operational R&D activities
  • Increase operational efficiency and overall productivity
  • Improve crop/trial data quality and reliability for internal R&D Operations customers
  • Reduce phytosanitary and regulatory risk related to seed borne pathogens activities
  • Provide metrics and reports related to the health of the continuous improvement program to management clearly outlining benefits and status
  • Collaborate and work closely with cross functional and cross BU partners
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement at every opportunity

Agricultural Technology Introduction

  • Facilitate regional and cross regional networking groups to monitor farm technology and competitive trends in the industry, implementing best practices where appropriate
  • Share information broadly through collaborative digital platforms; pilot, and if successful, implement new approaches and emerging trends globally
  • Maintain a robust connection with industry organizations, technology developers and innovators worldwide utilizing GRT led networking groups to monitor technology and competitive trends in the industry
  • Promote the broad sharing of information through the effective use of collaborative digital platforms that raise local station operations managers’ awareness to achieve implementation of new approaches and emerging trends

Organizational development

  • Provide management support, training and career development opportunities for Global Resource Team members
  • Provide internal coaching, mentoring, and training to site teams on the principles of Lean Methodology, projec

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • BA, MA or equivalent experience in business development required
  • Technical education or experience in plant sciences or ag engineering is helpful
  • Certifications in project management and continuous improvement are a plus
  • Fluent in English. Spanish or French language skills are desirable

Miscellaneous:

  • Reports to: Global VP of R&D Operations
  • Status: Exempt
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Domestic and international travel required (30%)
