Description & Requirements
Position Summary
HeinzSeed- a worldwide leader in hybrid processing tomato research and development- is looking for an Operations Supervisor to assist in overseeing all aspects of tomato seed processing. This position will work under the Manager of Quality and Operations and supervise the Operations team to ensure that tomato seed is being processed to the highest standard for sale to customers around the world.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations
- Implement new treatment protocols for seed disinfection
- Monitor treatment- sizing- and packaging of tomato seed and develop action plans for non-conformances
- Refine SOPs for seed operations ensuring standardized practices are in place
- Ensure compliance to Federal and State laws for seed posterity samples
- Working with purchasing to ensure stock is on-hand for all supplies
- Ensure accuracy and contribute to entering of seed processing and quality data
- Contribute to and lead implementation of capital projects
- Adhere to KHMS (KraftHeinz Management System)- 5S- and Lean principles
Production
- Maintain inventory and quality of parental seed lines including purity and germination
- Schedule treatment- processing- and testing of parental seed lines
- Develop forecasts and/or appropriate production plans to mitigate risk and achieve production target amounts while coordinating with various stakeholders
- Lead and/or contribute to various projects and initiatives to improve seed quality
Qualifications
Skills
- Broad knowledge of seed treatment- milling- and packaging processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or NAV
- Ability to write or follow written standard operating procedures- good manufacturing practices- safety regulations- and corporate policies.
- Able to work independently- acting with sense of urgency and as an owner
Experiences
- BS in agronomy- crop sciences- or supply chain management
- Experience supervising a team or 5+ years relevant industry experience highly preferred
