You will help shape the future of agriculture by:
- Providing leadership and oversight for the Seeds Production Research, Field Technology function
- Enabling yield improvement through development and implementation of field production technologies (digital, imagery, automation, agronomy, precision farming) and standardization of agronomic best-in-class practices across sites
- Driving seeds production reliability through production recommendations that are highly dependable
- Strengthening Lean Six Sigma culture within SPR (Seeds Production Research), and driving productivity in Seeds production through Lean Six Sigma
- Developing strategic external partnerships (e.g.: Universities, Suppliers, etc.)
- Driving innovation and influencing strategic priorities
Accountabilities
- Ensure that all personnel management processes and responsibilities are managed as a top priority
- Develop and manage a portfolio of Field Technology and Agronomy projects. It includes effective alignment with stakeholders, successful execution, and communication of results and recommendations
- Manage resources, third party contractors and full-time employees. Ensure appropriate balance of priorities and resources
- Collaborate with other internal teams (SPR Parent Characterization, Parent Seeds, Production) to execute projects and develop production best practices
- Develop and communicate production recommendations to the production team. Track implementation and accuracy, and perform root cause analysis
- Maintain awareness of competitive developments and key technologies in the seed production and adjacent industries, along with external technology institutions to ensure that innovations are identified, evaluated, and implemented
- Use and promote Lean Six Sigma within SPR and Seeds Operations to drive productivity
- Promote field technology and agronomy knowledge sharing across regions/sites/crops
- Ensure full HSE compliance and promote environmentally sustainable solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with strong background in Agronomy and Seed Business and a minimum of 3 years of industry experience
- Lean Six Sigma certification (desired)
- Strong capability to influence, develop, coach and teach
- Thorough understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis
- Process improvement, statistical analysis, MS office suite
- Seeds production, preferable across a range of crops
- Cross functional project management
- Experience working with operational team
- Role will require travel in the USA and occasionally international
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the US
- Requires occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds during the physically demanding growing season
- Exposure to inclement weather conditions while working outside
- 40% of work performed in standard office
- 60% of work performed at production locations, field or meetings
