Main Goal

Job description
- The Technical Sales Rep. initiates and maintains contact with present and potential customers of strategic importance to the company, through sales calls and associated travel.
- Provides a high level of service and product information to customers demonstrating a complete understanding and expertise in the field.
- Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and/or multiple functions/departments.
- Through established relationships, creates a need for customers by recommending specific varieties.
- Maintains a high level of communication with the customers and the HM Clause associates, acting as the liaison between these groups.
- Develop and implements annual and longer term trial plans to identify new varieties that will meet customer needs.
- Plans and delivers timely seed samples of commercial and HMX varieties per the defined trial plan.
- Develops required product performance trial data through trials to determine features and benefits of new products and makes recommendations to the Product Development Manager regarding new products to be advanced into the commercial product line.
- Participates in trade shows and field days preparation and participation, along with related activities in a professional manner.
- Provides technical solutions to the most difficult problems presented by customers and keeps the Regional Manager informed as needed.
- Provides imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent solutions in line with company objectives and priorities.
- Develops and implements sales action plans to achieve annual sales and margin budgets.
- Reviews sales forecasts on a monthly bases and production release updates.
- Anticipates and is at the forefront of market trends and identifies new varieties that will allow HM Clause to capitalize on considerable growth opportunities
- Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding the competitor's key products.
- Maintains a high level of communications with Regional Manager / Product Development Manager and associates and completes detailed monthly Sales and Product Development reports communicating the key market, customer, sales, product and competitive trends within territory.
- Using the evaluation forms, submits trial evaluations after trial conclusion.
- Manages expenses within the annual budget for the territory. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
- Provides guidance and expertise to all levels of TSRs as well as other functional areas of the company.
Profile
Education and/or Experience
- Requires a minimum of a B.S. in Agronomy or Horticulture, or equivalent field.
- 4-10+ years of experience in the Vegetable industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
