About Us
At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers. We are currently seeking a Full Count and Account in Salinas, CA.
You will enhance the prosperity of farmers by:
- Assisting in execution of sales targets and actions with identified accounts in accordance with the strategies and objectives set for vegetable business in the West
- Coordinating and influencing designated account sales activities; achieving established sales and financial targets with designated strategic accounts
- Coordinating within the Vegetable business unit network or broader to manage and execute mutually beneficial business plan with agreed priority customers. The customers can be large integrated producers, significant channel partners, or key downstream players or influencers
- Executing key account specific tactics aligned with campaign and marketing plans
- Identify key customer insights to support design of customer service-related policies, e.g. minimum order, credit, logistics guidelines
- As the overall owner of the account relationship, intervene as needed, e.g. for complaint handling or to support order to invoicing issue resolution
- Responsible for coordinating and influencing designated account sales activities; achieving established sales and financial targets with designated strategic accounts
- Full Count lead will reside locally aligned with the field sales team for maximum impact and optimal coverage
- The assigned crop market will include the following major areas: Greenhouse partner management, Full Count Sales budget achievement, sales service and support, primary spot plant sales accountability, production plan and production of high-quality plants, and innovation to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and drive targeted segments
Accountabilities
Full Count Sales Budget Achievement:
- Maximize Syngenta market share for watermelons and melons in market segments while maintaining margin targets
- Collaborate with greenhouse partners to ensure timely delivery of plants against demand plan
- Understand local markets and develop spot plant plans to capitalize on in-season opportunities
- Work with greenhouse partners to launch new value-added technologies and solution approaches
- Support technical sales representatives to drive sales of Full Count plants
Greenhouse Partner Management
- Actively manage greenhouse partners to negotiate contracts for production, put in place production plans, solve production problems, be accessible to answer inquiries and manage plant supply.
- Work with Full Count team to schedule production and provide insight on germination, pull rates, and plant quality
- Communicate effectively with field sales to provide needed information for customers: Seed drop dates, plant delivery dates, plant quality, and any shortfall to the Full Count promise are examples of the information that needs to be communicated
- Look for innovative ways to add value and efficiency with our greenhouse partners.
Support Field Sales Efforts
- Provide technical and sales assistance as needed to support sales representatives’ efforts, answer questions, and service product performance inquiries for Full Count
- Develop forecasts in collaboration with technical sales representatives and enter them in the tool
- Support promotional efforts at field days, tradeshows, and sales calls as needed
- Deliver on the Full Count promise and the desired customer experience
Collaboration Internally / Externally:
- Partner with internal stakeholders to position Syngenta for success within the assigned market.
- Utilize technical expertise with Syngenta to minimize plant quality issues due to disease insects and production practices.
- Identify best practices in the greenhouse and watermelon industry and implement to provide a high-quality customer experience with Full Count
Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Horticulture, or equivalent field experience
- 6+ years of experience in the Vegetable Seed industry is highly preferred
- Ability to implement new market and business development plans to achieve profitable growth
- Ability to forecast sales and budgets
- Trial set up, planting and evaluation experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships with associates, dealers, grower customers and related industry personnel.
- Ability to travel on a regular basis throughout the assigned territory, and to company/industry meetings as required (Position requires up to 60% field travel within assigned territory, frequenting greenhouses in California and Texas)
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
